Job Context

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for the development and delivery of the Manufacturing Operating System (Manufacturing Operating System - MOS) within the plant. This program is an enabler to deliver the plant Compelling Business Need (CBN). The role is to hands-on supporting the Plant Manager in driving the manufacturing excellence culture (improve and lock), building on the principals of zero loss, zero defects and a 100% engagement within the plant.

Goal and Key Accountabilities

The Continuous Improvement Engineer provides hands-on supports to the Plant Leadership Team in delivering the key plant results (Compelling Business Need - CBN), such as zero safety accidents, zero quality (losses), cost savings, efficiency improvement, 100% Customer Service Level and 100% engagement using the Manufacturing Operating System - MOS program as an enabler. The role is responsible for developing and delivering the Manufacturing Operating System - MOS roadmap for the plant, building on the standard Manufacturing Operating System - MOS program. High personal development of some Leadership Capabilities

Responsibilities and Key Activities

Leadership:

  • Learn and fully grasp JDE Standards on Fundamental CI methodologies (eg: RCA, 5S, PDCA, OPS and Zero Based Loss Analysisi)
  • Leads the Fundamental Pillar of the Plant to develop basic Continuous Improvement (CI) capability (Root Cause Analysis, 5S, PDCA, OPS, Zero Based Loss Analysis, Kaizen)
  • Drives MOS roll-out in the plant by creating drumbeat for the Pillars to define objectives, team structure, skills matrix and regular follow-through on the work plan execution status
  • Leads specific Continuous Improvement initiatives eg: 5S Implementation and Root Cause Analysis
  • Train shopfloor associates on Autonomous Maintenance (eg: Defects Tagging, One Point Lesson, CIL concepts and execution)
  • Leads or facilitates a specific Loss Reduction project (eg: Material/ Labor Productivity, GE Improvement, Energy Conservation)
  • Works closely with the Global Pillar Leaders to ensure Manufacturing Operating System is implemented according to JDE Standards
  • Drives proactive benchmarking with other internal and external Continuous Improvement experts to generate best practice

 

Delivery & Cost:

  • With guidance from the Plant Manager & inputs from Plant Leadership Team, to develop Manufacturing Operating System - MOS implementation plan to deliver the plant Compelling Business Need (CBN), with clear focus on zero defects, zero losses and a total engagement culture. This plan needs to be consistent with standard JDE Manufacturing Operating System - MOS roadmap
  • Implements the standard Manufacturing Operating System - MOS Continuous Improvement program, pillar structure and related capabilities
  • Owns daily Operations Performance System (OPS) Meeting Structure, Basic Problem Solving tools (Root  Cause Analysis, Kaizen, Single Minute Exchange of Dies - SMED) and 5S
  • Supports cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives; specifically on analyzing current state to quantify opportunities, then facilitate brainstorming sessions with prioritization criteria
  • Updates relevant information, tracking and reporting systems

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (or related field)
  • Preferable with Certification in Total Productive Maintenance (eg: Autonomous Maintenance) or Lean Six Sigma (eg: Green Belt)

Additional Information

  • 2 - 5 years experience in manufacturing environment
  • Previous working experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM),  Lean Production System is a strong plus
  • MS Office, efficient with MS Excel Analysis
  • Cross-functional exposure and collaboration
  • Project management experience (leading, facilitating or key contributor of an improvement projects). Will be great if candidate can demonstrate one past improvement project.
