Job Description

To start with, the position of R&D Quality Category Lead sits comfortably in the EU Regional Quality Team. An incredibly diverse team that helps each other learn, grow and develop. Just how we like it! As a R&D Quality Category Lead you will be asked to be the quality representative for a specific category and carry end-to-end accountability. For this, we don’t just need you to be a knowledgeable professional but also strongly rely on your interpersonal skills as well as your drive for success. Know that you’ll have a crucial role in creating and protecting the impact we look for in our value chain. With this said, we like you to take responsibility over the following tasks:

  • Participate in key NPD projects for their product category and agree quality success criteria linked to food safety, compliance, consumer drivers of liking defined in specifications
  • Assure category food safety quality deliverables are met for all the projects
  • Manage category vendors in Safefood
  • Assess 3rd party manufacturers, key vendors, LSPs  and set regular review with external parties in order to optimize the collaboration and quality performance
  • Identify areas for improvement and agree action plans with manufacturing plants to drive improvement for quality deliverables (product or process)
  • Coaches and supports Manufacturing and vendor quality teams
  • Conduct external and internal audits and technical visits

Qualifications

We are looking for a Food safety professional with at least 8 years experience in a FMCG, Food & Process industry  with a drive for excellence. Someone that holds themselves accountable and doesn’t shy away from responsibility. Given the nature of the role we feel it's important for you to have a certain level of seniority as well as a solid understanding of your own added value. We thrive in diverse teams and look for people that appreciate that as much as we do. We can give you a list of “must haves,” however that’s not how we view your candidacy. We do, of course, take into consideration how much experience you have within a food manufacturing environment and the quality challenges that come with it, but ultimately, we look at the bigger picture. But to give you a bit of guidance as to what we feel is needed in this role, we’ll share our “nice to have” list with you:

  • Master degree or equivalent in Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Engineering, Food Science or Nutrition or relevant vocational experience
  • Knowledge of quality and food safety standards and practices (ISO/ FSSC 22000, IFS, HACCP)
  • Knowledge of SAP, manufacturing systems and digital knowledge management systems
  • Ability to perform effective risk assessment and evaluate impact to business
